Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions travelers ask most
Planning a trip comes with questions. Here are answers to the ones I hear most often. Tap a question to see the answer, or jump to a topic below.
Getting Started
Why should I use a travel agent instead of booking online myself?
Booking sites give you options. We give you answers. With 15+ years of experience, we know which resorts match the photos, which cabins to avoid, and how to stretch your budget further. You get one person to call before, during, and after your trip. If a flight is canceled or a port is skipped, you won't be waiting on hold with a call center.
How does the planning process work?
It starts with a quick conversation about where you want to go, who's traveling, your budget, and the kind of trip you have in mind. From there we put together a personalized proposal, usually within 24 hours. Once you approve it, we handle the booking. As your trip gets closer, you'll receive your final itinerary and travel documents, and we're available for questions the whole way.
How far in advance should I book?
Earlier is almost always better for availability and pricing. As a general guide:
- Cruises and Disney: 9 to 12 months or more
- All-inclusives and international trips: 4 to 6 months
- Holidays, spring break, and peak summer: as early as possible
Last-minute trips are absolutely possible too. Just reach out and we'll see what's available.
What types of trips do you plan?
We plan ocean and river cruises, all-inclusive resorts, Disney vacations, honeymoons and anniversaries, family vacations, adventure travel, luxury getaways, and group trips such as destination weddings and reunions. If you're dreaming of somewhere specific, ask. Chances are we can make it happen.
Cost & Payments
Do you charge a planning fee?
No fee: There's no fee to work with us on most vacations. We're compensated by the cruise lines, resorts, and tour operators we book with.
Will booking through you cost more than booking direct?
In most cases, no. Cruise lines, resorts, and tour companies pay travel advisors a commission, so you'll generally pay the same price you'd find booking direct. Often you get more for it, since we have access to agent-exclusive perks, upgrades, and promotions.
How do payments work?
Most trips require a deposit to secure your booking, with the balance due before departure. The exact amount and due date depend on the supplier. Many suppliers also allow payment plans, so you can pay over time. We'll send you reminders before every due date so nothing sneaks up on you.
Before You Go
Do I need a passport?
For international flights, yes. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, since many countries require it. U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (starting and ending at the same U.S. port) can often sail with a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. Even so, we strongly recommend a passport. If you have to fly home from a foreign port, you'll need one. For domestic flights, you'll need a REAL ID–compliant license or another approved ID. Check current passport processing times at travel.state.gov and apply early.
Do you recommend travel insurance?
Yes. We recommend it for nearly every trip. Coverage can protect you if you need to cancel for a covered reason, get sick or injured while traveling, or have your luggage or flights disrupted. Some plans offer "cancel for any reason" coverage for extra flexibility. We'll walk you through your options so you can choose what fits.
If Something Changes
What if I need to change or cancel my trip?
Life happens, and we'll help you sort it out. Change and cancellation terms are set by each supplier, and they usually become stricter as your travel date gets closer. We'll explain your specific policy when you book. We don't charge any additional fees for changes. This is also where travel insurance can make a big difference.
Can I reach you while I'm traveling?
Absolutely. You'll have direct contact with us by phone and email before, during, and after your trip. If something comes up while you're away, such as a delayed flight or a missed connection, reach out and we'll help you work through it.
